A Very ‘Non-Corporate’ Conference

ACES were called on to manage a very special and original two-day conference and awards dinner.

ACES were delighted to be asked to manage an inaugural event on the Waterfront in the heart of Bristol.  This “gathering” was to be as non-corporate as possible - with a focus on guests sharing ideas, enjoying each others company and engaging in stimulating workshops over the course of two days.

The catering played a large part in the ‘unstuffy’ atmosphere.  ACES sourced organic, ethical and Rainforest Alliance certified coffee at the request of the client.  This was properly brewed in cafetieres, served alongside home-made biscotti and fresh fruit; guests had a truly memorable coffee break experience.

On the evening of the first day a large trestle table dinner for 180 guests took place in the marquee, requiring a quick turnaround from the daytime set-up.  A feast of food was laid down on platters and in serving dishes for guests to help themselves.  Organic and locally-sourced ingredients were used wherever possible and sparkling cider was served instead of the more traditional champagne.  Guests were treated to violin-playing buskers as they ate and the BBC Radio 4 Poetry Slam Champion, Dizraeli, announced the winners of the awards ceremony by poetry - a real movement away from usual corporate functions.

Yurts, a geodome and a Shepherd’s Hut were all brought on-site for guests to look round and enjoy.  Wood-burning stoves gave these structures a really homely feel and ACES were delighted to assist with the management for these extra-special additions to the site.

The non-corporate gathering was a huge success, and is a great example of ACES’s highly bespoke approach to events and commitment to delivering the best possible guest experience.
