15,000 people ‘MoonWalk’ for Charity

ACES was delighted to work with the ‘Walk the Walk’ charity for the second year running, managing their MoonWalk events in both London and Edinburgh.

Starting in Hyde Park, 14,000 women and 1,000 men dressed in their decorated bras, power-walked a full marathon around London, from midnight, to raise £7 million for breast cancer research and cancer care.

Before setting off the walkers were assembled in Europe’s largest pink circus tent where they were entertained by comedians and musicians as they ate four tonnes of organic pasta to prepare themselves for the long night ahead.

Preparations on the site began eight days prior to the event and, as project managers, ACES was solely responsible for overseeing the installation of all the necessary infrastructure including generators, lighting, staging, security fencing, crowd barriers, toilets, audio visual, branding and catering concessions, as well as the erection of the main marquee, ancillary marquees and the start and finish gantries!

The roadshow then moved-on to Edinburgh where the first Scottish MoonWalk was supported by 8,000 walkers.

“From my first meeting with Alastair, I felt confident he could provide the organisational skills, event expertise and local knowledge that was essential to the smooth running of our event. The day itself was so well supported and was a tremendous success. Alastair provided a very ‘hands on’ approach and he was more than willing to assist in awarding the walkers with their medals after the event!"
